Aluka are back in (r)Adelaide to play the Fringe and we couldn’t be more excited to have the walls of Format reverberating with their voices.
—Here’s a little bit about them—
They call themselves a band yet use no instruments, they play in pubs and clubs yet need no amplification. They perform music using only what they had when they entered the world. And like putty in their paws they will sing into silence even the most beer-fuelled of punters.
“Aluka’s live performance must be seen to be believed… a sick part of your consciousness wanted them to hit a wrong note, just to verify such sound was really a human product.”
-Izzy Tolhurst, FasterLouder-
Aluka are a three piece a cappella trio. With a passion for experimentation and creativity, Aluka are on a constant quest to reinvent the genre and the somewhat negative connotations attached to it. They sing original contemporary tunes that incorporate intricate harmonies, body and vocal percussion, tempo and time signature changes. There’s no shoo-wapping or doo-wapping here,
Aluka are as beautifully badass as any vocal group can be.
The ladies will present their unique material for 3 special shows in the very intimate Format space.
