'FLOATING WORLD'
curated by Olivia Kathigitis.
Berenice Carrington's Floating World demonstrates the notion of personal realities and the space between worlds.
Focussed upon the Shetland’s oil industry and the Toft Camp of the 1970’s, Floating World displays certain lifestyles, the urge for change and the restlessness that haunted the employees. Carrington exhibits the forced reality to which these workers were submitted. Their lives became a kind of made-up city. Through memory, Carrington allows the audience to experience hindsight of a world they don’t know and inhabit moments they were never a part of. In a dream-like state, she has created her own reality – feeding off the knowledge of the locals and submitting their fragmented reprisal of such occasions.FREE

'S I G N S'
curated by Stan Mahoney.
Local author and party technician Stan Mahoney has made a number of signs during the three years he spent managing events at Format. Some of them functional, some of them promotional, all of them poignant, ephemeral documents of Format Collective's broad, experimental approach to partying.

They include... * Out of Bounds * OUT OF ORDER * Bottles & Cans ONLY * CLOSED due to asshole landlord * KATHERINE BOTTEN "An Exhibition by Katherine Botten" - An Exhibition by Katherine Botten * No Drinks Outside Please * "Cocktails" * Buy a DRINK, pay our RENT * Snorkel Safety * Bar Closed by order of The Cops * Back in Fifteen Minutes * EMPTIES * Get Out ...and many, many more.FREE
