October 17 – 20
Established in 2011, the Festival of Unpopular Culture puts into practice some of the theories and ideas that have emerged from Adelaide’s subcultural landscape since the turn of the century. This year, guests turn their attentions to the idea of a “post-cultural” word, the prioritisation of leisure over entertainment, and the evident failure of environmentalism. Offbeat, heretical, half-serious, proudly elitist, unashamedly populist, FUC aims to blur the lines between high-art and pop culture, science and science-fiction, theory and practice.
In 2013 FUC is once again brought to you by Format Collective, in partnership with the Adelaide Festival of Ideas, supported by the fine folks at Lost City, Tuxedo Cat, Nexus Cabaret and the Adelaide City Council.
